Nurse Support Program - -Nurse Educator Doctoral Grant (NEDG)
Maryland institutions with nursing degree programs may nominate an unlimited number of dissertation grants in nursing faculty pursuing doctoral degrees within the final two years of a program of study. Funds for multi-year awards will be disbursed annually contingent upon satisfactory progress toward dissertation or capstone project, and degree completion. If awarded, recipients are required to complete an annual NSP II Faculty Award Survey each Fall for five years to support program evaluation.
Eligibility: Nursing faculty currently enrolled in Ph. D, dissertation grants in nursing, Ed. or DNP programs who are engaged in or about to engage in the dissertation or capstone project in the academic year. Current full-time faculty who are enrolled in part-time or full-time doctoral study are eligible, including recent doctoral graduates as of May 1, and later, who are currently serving as a faculty member.
For FYin response to guideline revisions with the program evaluation inif a full-time faculty member received NEDG funding in prior years and completed the doctoral degree with continued outstanding student debt, they may be nominated again with documentation of all loan repayments and use of prior NEDG awards to pay existing dissertation grants in nursing. All additional NEDG funds awarded must be expended within one year of receipt to pay this specific eligible student loan debt first.
If a full-time faculty member was ineligible due to completing a doctoral degree prior toand has worked for a Maryland nursing program for 10 years, they may be nominated for the NEDG with documentation of all loan repayments and continued outstanding student debt.
Those who have received one of the other NSP II Faculty awards in previous years as a full-time faculty are not eligible because they must complete the first service obligation before being awarded a second award. Each award has a service obligation period attached, dissertation grants in nursing.
